What Machines Are Used in Peanut Butter Production

As a widely popular condiment, peanut butter involves a production process comprising several critical stages, each requiring specialized equipment to ensure quality and safety. This article provides a detailed overview of the core machinery involved in peanut butter production and their respective functions.

What Machines Are Used in Peanut Butter Production?

➤Destoner Machine: Utilizes vibrating screens and airflow systems to efficiently separate impurities, such as stones and soil clumps from the raw peanuts.
➤Roasting and Cooling Machine: The first section uses hot air to uniformly roast the peanuts, bringing out their characteristic nutty aroma. The second section employs rapid cold air cooling to lock in optimal flavor and prevent over-roasting.
➤Splitting and Peeling Machine: Employs the differential friction of rubber rollers to remove the red skins from the peanuts while simultaneously splitting the kernels in half. This increases the surface area, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the grinding process.
➤Peanut Butter Grinding Machine: This is the core piece of equipment in peanut butter production. The peanut halves are ground within the minute gap between a rotor and a stator, producing a smooth, fine-textured peanut butter with a particle size ranging from 20 to 100 microns.

➤Mixing Tank: Used for incorporating auxiliary ingredients such as salt, sugar, and emulsifiers. Equipped with multi-layer paddle agitators, it ensures that all ingredients are thoroughly blended under controlled temperature conditions.
➤Vacuum Degassing Tank: Removes air bubbles and dissolved oxygen from the peanut butter paste by creating a vacuum. The resulting peanut butter features a brighter color and a smoother texture; furthermore, this process effectively prevents oil oxidation and extends the product's shelf life.
➤Cooling Machine: Rapidly dissipates the heat generated during the grinding process using a jacketed heat exchanger. It maintains the temperature of the peanut butter paste below 30–40°C to prevent oil oxidation and rancidity, thereby preparing the product for packaging.
➤Filling Machine: Represents the final stage of the peanut butter production process. It utilizes piston-type or flow-meter-based volumetric filling mechanisms, paired with an automatic capping system, to ensure high filling accuracy and a tight, secure seal.
